Assignment Two; Crysis Part 1

Comedy Central explained to an alien... A visual stimuli that promotes laughing. Laughter is a part of human behavior regulated by the brain. It helps humans clarify their intentions in social interaction and provides an emotional context to conversations. Laughter is used as a signal for being part of a group — it signals acceptance and positive interactions with others. Laughter is sometimes seemingly contagious, and the laughter of one person can itself provoke laughter from others. This may account in part for the popularity of laugh tracks in situation comedy television shows located on the Comedy Channel frequency. In addition, causes the the release of mood enhancing hormones such as Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine, or 5-HT) is a monoamine neurotransmitter synthesized in serotonergic neurons in the central nervous system (CNS) and enterochromaffin cells in the gastrointestinal tract of animals including humans. Serotonin is also found in many mushrooms and plants, including fruits and vegetables.

Desccribe CC as a person... Mr. Alien meet Mr. Chappell.

What kind of clothes would Comedy Central wear? A speedo. Putting it out there, in your face, whether you like it or not.

Where would Comedy Central live? Why Los Angeles of course. Thats where all the aliens live.

What kind of music would it listen to? XM Satellite stations 1-170.

Which movies would it love? SuperBad, American Pie, 40 Yr/old Virgin, White Chicks, Old School, etc...

Would Comedy Central be a friend of yours? Why or why not? Is Comedy Central you? I believe we would be good friends. They make the jokes and I laugh. Everyone that remotely enjoys CC has a little CC inside.

Assignment Two

I would explain comedy Central to my Paladins friend that Comedy Central is an electronic video/audio broadcast that focuses on the silliness of the human condition. Mostly by creating satirical plots that mimic current events.

My alien friend would most likely not have a very good understanding of our complex social issues nor the history of our "superstar" politicians I would want to introduce him to Comedy Central through John Stewart or Colbert, I think a show like Drawn together or South park.

If I were to personify Comedy Central I'd start off by warning the person listening to this discription that "CC" has a rather dry sense of humor and it would be wise to keep a light heart and an objective mind. CC is quick witted and highly intelligent, though sometimes it may seem that CC might be racist or sexist if you take the time to look a little closer you will find a deeper meaning to the language and actions being portrayed, a meaning that is completely opposite of racist. CC is willing to take chances, to step out on the edge of what some might find socially and morally unacceptable. When it comes down to it, CC is a highly creative individual that thrives on inspiring others to contemplate on deeper and more complex levels.

As far as CC's fashion sense goes, it's one that embraces contradiction. For instance you might find CC dressed in a Tuxedo and sporting a Mohawk together. For a more casual occasion a nice spring dress with an unflattering floral print and hot, tacky colors matched with a lovely pair of military boots and dime store jewelry may express CC's inner-self. On occasion CC like to dress endogenously, breaking the long enforced rules of the dominator's celebrated superficial sexual identity

CC is a quite affluent individual owning several properties so it is possible to spend time during the summer months in the open, liberated air of Europe, Holland and Norway mostly. In the winter months CC really likes the crazy atmosphere of Oaxoa, Brazil and San Francisco, taking time out to relax and recharge the creative juices by attending events like Burning Man.

CC without a doubt enjoy Comedies for certain but tends to be most passionate about the less popular films. Independent films and the like create a sensation like you are panning for gold. It is in this context that CC was searching for a movie that would get a laugh and he found "A dirty Shame" by John Waters. Mind you, CC is a huge documentary buff but now and then a feature film presentation can be found that is quite apealing.

CC would certainly be a friend, a deep, intellectual, empathetic, creative and quick witted individual is quite a mistake to forego as a friend.

I am You are Me.... ;)

When it comes to the youtube.com vids, I'd have to start off with one of my favorite amateur videos from youtube. For me, even though it has little to know intellectual value, it's worthwhile being it was able to make me cry of laughter.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GWmNOTRWZU

Second would be Zeitgeist due to it's but if information worth chewing over.

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Zeitgeist&search=Search&sa=X&oi=spell&resnum=0&spell=1

The shows I'd be most interested in these particular sircumstances would be;
Southpark - because it doesn't require a strong foundation of current affairs to get a laugh out of it. It would also help my alien friends understand the human conditions at this point in history a little better, at the same time entertaining them.
A Daily Show - along with it's comedy it also rather educational, helping people that find watching political events on TV to be super boring. The same would hold true for the aliens. Of course John is totally worth soliciting for,
Last but not least.....
Colbert Report - I would first forewarn the aliens that first this show need be understood as a satirical take on fundamental, religious conservatism. It (like ALL experiences) need be looked at through an objective perspective. The individual prone to fallowing any individual that can act like they know what they are saying us bound to become lost, angry and confrontational towards others that don't see through their same biased absolutist idealism

Finally Uno is ready for posting!!

I would have to say that I’d like to write for The Cobert Report®!!!

Being part of the process of creating humor and satire on such an intellectual level that his show tends to adhere to is something I’d really enjoy. Coming from this idea of God given rights and crossing this with the perception of idealistic absolute truth and it’s almost certain a plethora of conflicts are bound to arise. The US being a nation was created with a foundation in mind of freedom and liberty for *all*, something the majority of people these days have a hard time truly grasping in my opinion. There is a strong level of misunderstanding and blatant disregard for human diversity in the fundamentalist control/power hungry individual creating issues that become most certainly good writing material .

For me I see great potential for the quick whit and unbound sarcasm of Cobert to be the perfect platform to take on these issues along with a heap of similar topics very effectively.

Cobert is basically the only character on his show so I’m going to have to go with him as the most difficult to write for. Being able to create scenarios that entertain and at the same time come from a perspective that drives the over all meaning home to people on both sides of the given issue could be somewhat difficult at times.

The current state of human affairs and world events, I can certainly see a future for Cobert, John and many other Comedy Central shows to continue on for a long time. In the same way that The Simpsons do.

With the right talent and motivation I think a “skit” comedy (in the same vein as MadTV) though, focused more on current events (especially all these “isms” at war with one another. Plots that really dig into the perceptions and ideology of different groups and individuals, exposing the futility of our situation when empathy and understanding take a back seat to hard line, unbending ideology.

Though Cobert would be great fun to right for, he is also the only one a person could right for the majority of the time on his show. Due to this I’d also like to add Mrs. Garrison and Cartman.

I tend to Identify with John Stewart and many of his guest most of the time.

As far as changes go, assuming I need to stay with my original choice of show I’d be writing for. I’d say the changes would have to do with Cobert’s interviewing method. It seems to me that he puts to much energy into playing the “fundi-conserive” that in many cases you end up getting little out of the conversation and many important issues get passed right over.

I think creating a few “news special” segments that focus on an important issue that week or maybe on exposing the misunderstanding and irrational direction created by any number of given situations. For instance propaganda being spread by corporate news channels or a politician and doing word on the street etc.. To sort of cross examine the variable in that given situation that is putting out said information.

I really think it would be interesting for the individual in this new news segment to be a character mimicked after al jazeera, with a twist to take that rather boring edge off of their production. Using this “correspondent” to present news feeds (for instance) from around the world where in so many cases you see a totally different opinion and feeling about what’s happening than you get from the media and politicians in the US. Even having Cobert using his uber conservativeness to comment on the subjects being presented by … maybe an Islamic woman in full garb ;)

Assignment One

If I could be a writer for one show it would be "The Dave Chappell(e) Show" Reason?... Quality of writing. They continually produce side slapping comedy show after show. I'll revisit this comparison again later, but I would almost compare it to "Saturday Night Live".
What interests me about the show is the structure. It's format is spacial, consisting of Dave Chappell's ingenious character creations, parody's of other stars, to Charley Murphy's recollections of the 80's. As far my personality/ sense of humor goes in relation to the show, it is an exact match.
What type of shows would I create? Actually I would not alter the shows current feel whatsoever. Which character would be fun to write for? Charley Murphy, the dude is hilarious in an underrated way. I would like to see him on the big screen. Which character would be the hardest to write for? By far it would be Dave Chappell. It would be tenuous to write for such a comedic genius. Which character to identify with the most? Let's see, probably Rick James. What would I change about the show? I would like to inject a few more guest stars. Anyone that has been around the block and has mostly stared in dramas vs. comedies. To introduce a new character? Chris Tucker, hands down.
Hello my name is Chris. I'm 34 and in the healthcare field. My hobbies mostly consist of outdoor activities, camping, boating, diving, etc. But when the day is over I'm on my couch. The Comedy Central Network is trip and capitalizes a large amount of my viewing time. My favorite show by far is "The Dave Chappell(e) Show". First, the content of the show is acutely hilarious. Secondly, Dave pushes the envelope on what the FCC might consider offensive, which is appealing.

Assignment Two

I would explain Comedy Central to be very funny, up front, and full of life. Comedy Central wears jeans and a tee shirt and would live in San Diego. I think that Dumb and Dumber movie and soundtrack would be perfect. CC would be a great friend who doesn’t love a funny sometimes serious friend. I would talk about Reno 911, South Park, and The Daily Show because I think these shows show the dynamics of comedy.

Assignment One

If I could be a writer for one show on Comedy Central it would have to be Reno 911 because it is a hilarious. The most interesting thing about this show is that it makes you think just what do some cops do. I think that Reno 911 fits my sense of dumb humor I see tons of opportunity to keep this show alive. I think that I would create a political comedy since we are so consumed by it I think it would be very funny to see the lighter side once in a while.
