Assignment one

If I could be a writer of a show on Comedy Central it would be the Dave Chappelle Show. Even though all the shows are repeats, I have always liked his style of humor. He would poke fun at everyone and I never felt that he targeted one particular group. He made me see how television is really like, but how it is downplayed so that they do not look bad. Early in the blog, someone mentioned this proliferation of reality shows that have taken over television and I really have thought about having a reality show that shows the absurdity of it all. It could have all the drama, suspense, and immoral things that reality shows have, but in the end when the finale is built up, everyone finds out that the reality show was not real but fake with unknown actors. Its just a thought, but maybe people would finally be turned off by reality shows enough to make them go away.
Dave Chappelle has several characters I like, but one that I would love to write for is his sketches on Rick James. Everyone know that classic line of his everytime he mentions he is Rick James, hilarious stuff. I think his character of Chuck Taylor the newscaster would be tougher for me to write for just because of the way the media can manipulate the public, but he always has done a great job mocking them. I don't think I identify with any characters on the show. The one thing I would change is bringing him back because he has a legion of fans that watch his sketches still even though theyre several years old. Maybe he could create his own character of leaving and coming back and mocking that.
